Museo Lazo
Museo.Lazo is a design for a contemporary art museum that aims to become a symbol that expresses Mexican culture. The requirements for the competition were to incorporate various galleries that explored different art disciplines and mediums, and therefore had to be flexible enough to withstand future programmatic changes. The galleries had to include areas of hard design, soft design, architecture and many others, but also had to be urbanistically viable and accessible to the thread of Mexico City.
The conceptual form is inspired by the traditional Mexican ballet dress, in which the building undulates and flows to allow entrances to the building where needed, provide natural light into the space, and recognizing necessary pedestrian entrances. It provides a plaza as a breathing space to the urban condition of Ave. Rio Mississippi.  The undulation of the building also responds to the programmatic needs of the building, in which the height of the curves will grow when the bigger galleries need to fit, and will lower when there is a more public program that is in dialogue with the street.
